People’s Bank and Hayleys Solar, the renewable energy division of Hayleys Fentons Limited, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the widespread adoption of solar energy through improved financing options. This collaborative effort aims to empower customers by providing them with access to loans for rooftop solar power installations for their homes or businesses. By facilitating affordable financing, individuals and enterprises can embrace solar energy, reduce their carbon footprint, and contribute to environmental sustainability.
Under the introduced loan programs, customers have the flexibility to opt for affordable monthly installments instead of facing the burden of high electricity bills. This monthly savings option is available for systems of any capacity, with savings increasing proportionally to the system’s size. By choosing this option, customers can redirect their saved funds towards other essential needs, making a one-time financial investment that leads to long-term cost savings.
The signing ceremony, attended by key executives including Clive Fonseka (CEO/General Manager of People’s Bank) and Hasith Prematillake (Managing Director of Hayleys Fentons Limited), marks a significant milestone in promoting renewable energy and economic development in Sri Lanka. The collaboration between People’s Bank and Hayleys Solar signifies a crucial step towards the country’s renewable energy targets, aligning with its focus on environmental conservation and energy security. Initiatives like this play a vital role in driving the nation towards energy independence and a more sustainable future.
The event also saw the participation of executives such as Roshane Perera (Executive Director/CEO of Hayleys Solar) and Pamudith Gunawardana (Finance Director of Hayleys Fentons Limited), along with senior officials from People’s Bank. This partnership underscores the commitment of both entities to support Sri Lanka’s transition to renewable energy sources, contributing to a greener and more resilient energy landscape for the nation.
