A delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Country Director Takafumi Kadono, met with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday to reaffirm their commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s economic and social development.
During the discussions, the ADB emphasized its ongoing dedication to various projects in Sri Lanka, focusing particularly on bolstering sectors critical to the nation’s recovery. The tourism sector was identified as having significant potential for economic growth, prompting the ADB to assure further assistance in developing tourism infrastructure to maximize this opportunity.

In addition to tourism, the ADB also showed a keen interest in supporting the development of Sri Lanka’s energy sector, financial sector, and small-scale entrepreneurs, recognizing their vital role in fostering sustainable economic growth.
This ongoing partnership between Sri Lanka and the ADB is expected to play a crucial role in the country’s long-term development and recovery efforts.
The meeting included key representatives such as ADB Country Operations Head Cholpon Mambetova, Senior Economics Officer Hasitha Wickremasinghe, and officials from Sri Lanka’s Treasury and Finance Ministry.
