The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) marked a significant milestone by hosting the 10th edition of the ‘Top German Brands in Sri Lanka’ on September 19 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo.
This year’s event highlighted the strong bilateral ties between Germany and Sri Lanka, recognizing the contributions of 300 German brands operating in Sri Lanka. These companies have been acknowledged for their commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability, significantly impacting various sectors across the island.
A standout moment of the event was the launch of the inaugural German Brands Directory in Sri Lanka. This comprehensive guide celebrates a decade of German businesses in the country, showcasing their diversity and solidifying the long-term partnership between Germany and Sri Lanka.
Dr. Felix Neumann, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he underscored the deep-rooted relationship between the two nations, stating, “The commitment of German businesses to Sri Lanka’s development has been steadfast over the years. As we celebrate the 10th edition of the Top German Brands event, we acknowledge not only the success of these companies but also their role in strengthening bilateral ties and fostering sustainable growth.”
Since its launch in 2015, the Top German Brands event has gained prominence as a key platform for celebrating the invaluable contributions of German businesses to the Sri Lankan economy.
AHK Sri Lanka Chief Delegate Marie Antonia von Schönburg expressed her pride in this journey: “Celebrating the 10th edition of Top German Brands is a testament to the resilience and determination of German businesses in Sri Lanka. Their commitment to quality, innovation, and long-term partnerships has enabled them to thrive in the Sri Lankan market. These companies have established a strong presence and significantly contributed to Sri Lanka’s economic landscape.”
The event also recognized the anniversaries of several long-standing German companies in Sri Lanka, highlighting their enduring dedication to excellence and the trust they have cultivated within the local market. The longevity of these businesses reflects an unwavering commitment, relentless effort, and steadfast courage—qualities synonymous with German enterprises. The Top German Brands event continues to symbolize the strength of the economic relationship between Germany and Sri Lanka, promoting business growth and fostering closer ties between the two nations.
