Celebratory Event Commemorates 21 Years of Meth Saviya’s Impact

The Buddhist Cultural Centre in Colombo 5 recently marked the 21st anniversary of Meth Saviya with a notable event, the Maithri Bhooshana felicitation ceremony. The ceremony, graced by Buddha Sasana and Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayaka, honored individuals committed to philanthropy and community service. Among the honorees were Vipassi Buddhist Centre Director Ven. Rajawelle Subhuthi Thera, recognized for their contributions to enhancing the nation’s healthcare infrastructure, and Niranjala Kannangara, President of Nugegoda N Style Eye Lens Company, applauded for her charitable endeavors.

The celebration, organized by Meth Saviya, featured several highlights, including the provision of free spectacles to 150 attendees and a spiritually enriching Yugasana Kavi Bana discourse on poetry delivered by two novice monks sponsored by Meth Saviya. The event, led by Meth Saviya Chairperson Prof. Chandana Jayaratne and Borella Sri Lankaramaya Chief Incumbent Ven. Weeragoda Gnana Thera, emphasized Meth Saviya’s dedication to promoting community welfare and fostering compassion nationwide. Meth Saviya, a mind education development charity association with 7,800 members across the country, continues to uphold its mission under the leadership of Prof. Chandana Jayaratne.
