The Colombo Stock Exchange closed with slight gains on Wednesday, according to its site data.
The broader All Share Index (ASPI) edged up 0.01 percent, or 1.08 points, closing at 11,294. Meanwhile, the more liquid S&P SL20 Index fell 0.09 percent, or 2.91 points, ending at 3,223.
Turnover was recorded at 320 million, marking the lowest year-to-date.
“The shaky sentiment continued today with the market recording its lowest turnover year-to-date,” Softlogic Stockbrokers reported. “It was a mixed performance with the ASPI marginally up and the S&P down.”
“Investors are still adopting a wait-and-see approach, leading to some volatility.”
One major crossing was noted; Central Finance Plc accounted for 12 percent of the turnover, with its share price remaining stable at 105.25.
Top contributors to the ASPI included Ceylinco Holdings Plc (up at 2,500.00), Melstacorp Plc (up at 80.00), and Hatton National Bank Plc (up at 184.00).
A net foreign outflow of 23 million rupees was recorded for the day.
