CSE Celebrates ADFM Graduates’ Achievements

Colombo Stock Exchange Celebrates Graduation of Advanced Diploma in Financial Markets Students

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) held a ceremony on September 30, 2024, at the Courtyard by Marriott’s Grand Sapphire Hall to honor the achievements of the seventh and eighth batches of students from the Advanced Diploma in Financial Markets (ADFM). This event underscores CSE’s commitment to promoting financial literacy and education in the capital markets, marking the first educational qualification awarded by the Stock Exchange.

The ceremony was attended by notable figures including CSE Chairman Dilshan Wirasekara, Professor Sanjeewani Ginigaddara, Vice-Chancellor of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, and CSE CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike, along with senior management, faculty, graduates, and their families. A total of 52 students celebrated their graduation from the ADFM program.

Established to meet the increasing demand for accessible entry-level qualifications in financial markets, the ADFM program equips participants with essential knowledge about capital market operations and investment strategies. Spanning nine months, the course comprises ten modules covering critical topics such as capital market regulations, investment analysis, portfolio management, and macroeconomics.

The curriculum combines theoretical and practical elements, including model portfolio management, allowing students to apply real-world expertise and develop hands-on skills. The program is taught by an esteemed panel of lecturers, featuring local university faculty and capital market professionals.

CSE CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike congratulated the graduates, urging them to leverage their newfound knowledge to inspire others and foster financial literacy within their communities. As Chief Guest, Dilshan Wirasekara emphasized the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the evolving financial landscape. He highlighted CSE’s partnerships with universities and educational institutions to enhance financial literacy and prepare the youth for impactful careers in finance.

Keynote speaker Professor Sanjeewani Ginigaddara acknowledged the significance of the graduates’ accomplishments, offering valuable insights for their future endeavors. The ADFM program is officially recognized by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA), providing graduates with an expedited pathway to management accounting qualifications, further enhancing their career opportunities in the financial sector.
