The Municipal Council of Nuwara Eliya recently hosted the much-anticipated ‘April Blooms 2024’ flower show, showcasing an impressive array of vibrant and innovative entries despite facing several challenges. Among the standout participants, Grand Hotel emerged as a frontrunner, maintaining its reputation for excellence in floral displays.
Grand Hotel secured multiple first-place awards across various categories, including Best Garden, Lawn, Fences & Hedges, and Best Collection of Potted Plants and Cut Flowers in the commercial large category. Additionally, the hotel received top honors for Floral Arrangement – Small scale in the Commercial category, reflecting its commitment to aesthetic finesse.
S. Anbalagan, the Garden Manager at Grand Hotel, expressed delight at the record-breaking achievement and hinted at future plans to further enhance the hotel’s flower garden. The success underscores the dedication and expertise of the hotel’s gardening team, known for their meticulous attention to detail in maintaining exquisite gardens.
The awards ceremony, held at Victoria Park on April 21 under the patronage of the Municipal Commissioner and former Mayors of Nuwara Eliya, drew a large and enthusiastic crowd. The event not only celebrated the floral splendor on display but also recognized the outstanding achievements of participants, particularly Grand Hotel, reaffirming its status as a symbol of luxury hospitality in Nuwara Eliya.
