Greenlam Industries, a global leader in surfacing solutions, concluded its highly anticipated DesignNXT 3.0 event in Colombo, Sri Lanka on July 27. The Indo-Sri Lanka Design Summit brought together eminent architects, interior designers, and industry professionals from both nations for a day of enriching discussions, trend analysis, and innovative product reveals.
Following the success of its international editions in Kazakhstan, Egypt, and Poland, DesignNXT made its Sri Lankan debut, uniting leading design figures from India and Sri Lanka. Held at The Grand Marquee, Taj Samudra, the summit provided a vibrant platform for exploring the latest trends and engaging in thought-provoking dialogue.
The event featured keynote presentations from prominent design experts, including Arjun Rathi of Arjun Rathi Design, who discussed ‘Light. Form(s). Emotion’; Professor Chitra Weddikkara of QServe Group, who explored ‘Sustainability as a Diverse Perspective in Contemporary Design’; and Migara Alwis of Design Consortium Pvt Ltd, who addressed ‘Moving Forward with Construction in Today’s Context’.
Panel discussions included topics such as ‘The Art of Surface Selection’, which examined the impact of material choices on design, and ‘The Designer’s Dilemma’, which tackled the challenge of creating cost-effective yet high-quality designs.
A notable highlight of the summit was a tribute to Geoffrey Bawa, the pioneer of tropical modernism. The homage celebrated Bawa’s innovative designs and his influence on sustainable architecture. Greenlam Industries honored Bawa’s legacy with a donation to the Geoffrey Bawa Trust, presented to Trustee Nadija Thambiah.
Exclusive product launches were also featured, showcasing Greenlam’s latest offerings including NewMika Laminates, NewMika FX Exterior Panels, Decowood Veneers Etched collection, Mikasa Doors Grooved collection, and Mikasa Staircase collection.
