HSBC Named ‘Best International Bank in Sri Lanka’ by Euromoney

HSBC Sri Lanka has been awarded the title of ‘Best International Bank in Sri Lanka’ by Euromoney in their Awards for Excellence 2024. This accolade acknowledges HSBC’s commitment to digitisation and delivering competitive financial services, reflected in its exceptional financial results in 2023. The award also highlights key achievements in Wholesale Banking, Sustainable Finance, and the Bank’s strategic efforts in environmental conservation and women empowerment.

In addition to this recognition, HSBC received 18 awards across Asia, including titles such as Asia’s Best Bank, Asia’s Best Bank for Transaction Services, and Asia’s Best Bank for Sustainable Finance. The Bank was also named Best International Bank in countries including Australia, China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam.

Mark Surgenor, CEO of HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives, remarked: “We are proud to receive this distinguished award from Euromoney, which is timely as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our credit cards in Sri Lanka. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovative spirit of the HSBC team in Sri Lanka. We remain committed to opening up a world of opportunity for our customers, clients, colleagues, and communities as we have done since 1892.”

Earlier this year, HSBC Sri Lanka was also named Best International Bank in Sri Lanka for 2024 by Finance Asia, marking the seventh time the Bank has received this honor. This recognition cited HSBC’s strong performance in advancing its diversified operations in the country, focusing on large-scale digitisation, growth energisation, and transitioning to net zero.
