IMF Meets Sri Lanka’s New Economic Team for Future Collaboration

Sri Lanka’s newly elected President Anura Dissanayake’s economic team held its first meeting with an International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation. The discussions, which took place at the Presidential Secretariat, focused on reviewing the current IMF program and exploring future collaboration.

The IMF delegation, which included Peter Breuer (Senior Mission Chief), Sarwat Jahan (Resident Representative), and Manavee Abeyawickrama (Economist), expressed optimism about the positive changes under the new government.

Sri Lanka’s economic team was represented by Anil Jayantha, Chair of the Economic Policy Council & Senior Advisor to the President on Economic Affairs & Finance, along with Senior Advisor Duminda Hulangamuwa, Sunil Handunnetti, Seetha Bandara Ranathunga, Sunil Gamage, Nandasiri Kihimbiyahetti, O. G. Dayaratne Banda, and Amarasena Athukorala.
