The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), the leading professional body for engineers in the country, is set to introduce the prestigious Eng. (Dr.) A.C. Visvalingam Annual Award for Most Outstanding Engineer 2004. This award aims to honor exceptional engineers who have demonstrated unwavering dedication to their field and made significant contributions to Sri Lankan society or on a global scale through their engineering endeavors. The criteria for selection include a track record of innovation, resourcefulness, good governance, commitment to health, safety, and environmental sustainability, all while upholding ethical standards.
The launch event for the Eng. (Dr.) A.C. Visvalingam Annual Award for Most Outstanding Engineer 2024 took place on May 7 at the Wimalasurendra Auditorium, located at the IESL Head Office in Colombo. Alongside the award launch, the official unveiling of the IESL website occurred, marking a milestone in the organization’s digital presence and communication with its members and the engineering community at large.
During the event, engineer Lalith Kahatapitiya was recognized and presented with a commemorative gift, adding a special highlight to the occasion. This gesture not only celebrated the new award but also acknowledged the contributions of seasoned engineers like Kahatapitiya, further underscoring the importance of recognizing and appreciating excellence in the engineering profession.
