Nawaloka College of Higher Studies Celebrates 10 Years of Empowering Students

Nawaloka College of Higher Studies (NCHS) proudly marks its 10th anniversary as a leading provider of higher education in Sri Lanka, enabling students to pursue globally recognised degrees. Established in 2014 as an extension of Nawaloka Holdings’ legacy, NCHS bridges the educational gap by offering high-quality academic pathways locally.

Chairman Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa highlighted the institution’s mission: “Healthcare and education go hand in hand. Nawaloka College was born from the need to provide affordable, quality education without leaving the country. Many students lack the financial means to study abroad, and we offer them a world of possibilities right here in Sri Lanka.”

In response to the limited placements in Sri Lanka’s Government universities, NCHS has created partnerships with prestigious global institutions, starting with Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, and expanding to universities in Malaysia, Canada, the USA, and the UK. These collaborations allow hundreds of students each year to begin their educational journey in Sri Lanka and transfer abroad to complete their degrees.

Deputy Chairman and CEO Victor Ramanan reiterated the college’s mission: “We aim to make quality education affordable and accessible for everyone. Through this vision, NCHS has become a gateway for students pursuing fields like engineering, IT, management, and health sciences either locally or overseas.”

One of the highlights of NCHS’s decade-long journey is its enduring partnership with Swinburne University of Technology, one of the longest-running transnational university collaborations in Sri Lanka. The institution has also expanded its partnerships in the United States, particularly in California, Virginia, and New York, offering students access to diverse academic programs and scholarships.

Beyond academics, NCHS provides a robust support system to assist students with every step of their study-abroad journey, including visa application guidance and interview preparation. “We are committed to reducing barriers for students aspiring to study overseas,” Ramanan said.

As it celebrates its 10-year milestone, NCHS continues to empower Sri Lankan students by offering world-class education opportunities and equipping them to achieve their dreams locally and globally.
