The Port City Colombo will officially break ground for its Marina development on Friday, marking a milestone in its efforts to enhance business opportunities and attractiveness.
The Marina project is a joint initiative by China Harbour and Engineering Corporation (CHEC) Port City Colombo Ltd., Browns Investments PLC, and LOLC Holdings PLC. Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath will preside as the Chief Guest at the groundbreaking ceremony.
The Marina is designed as a state-of-the-art facility with the capacity to accommodate 243 marine vessels. Alongside its core function, the development will include exclusive guest clubs, dining options, retail outlets, recreation areas, event spaces, and ample parking facilities.
This initiative is expected to elevate Colombo Port City as a premier destination for marine tourism and recreation, contributing significantly to the region’s economic growth.
In August last year, the Cabinet of Ministers approved Colombo Marina Development Ltd. as a strategic development venture under the Colombo Port City Economic Commission Act No. 11 of 2021. This status grants specific incentives and benefits to support the project.
As part of the initiative, four plots of land within the Colombo Port City area have been leased to Colombo Marina Development.
Port City Colombo is a visionary multi-service special economic zone, envisioned to position Sri Lanka as a global hub for investment and leisure.
