President Wickremesinghe’s Initiatives Aim to Revitalize Economy and Infrastructure

State Minister for Rural Roads Development, Mr. Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, voiced confidence in President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s leadership to navigate Sri Lanka out of its economic challenges. Chandrakanthan, speaking at a press briefing titled “Collective Path to a Stable Country,” emphasized the President’s commitment to rebuilding the economy with the support of the people.

Highlighting the government’s proactive stance, Chandrakanthan revealed a budget allocation of approximately Rs. 3 billion for the urgent repair of roads damaged by recent floods caused by adverse weather conditions.

During the briefing, the State Minister elaborated on President Wickremesinghe’s efforts to bolster the rural economy. The government has earmarked approximately Rs. 12 billion to enhance rural infrastructure, focusing on the construction of roads and bridges. With 65% of the work already completed, significant progress has been achieved, promising substantial benefits for rural communities.

The press briefing, held at the Presidential Media Centre, underscored the government’s commitment to addressing immediate challenges while laying the groundwork for long-term economic stability and development. Through strategic investments in infrastructure and concerted efforts to engage the public, President Wickremesinghe’s administration aims to propel Sri Lanka towards a prosperous future.
