SLIBC Leads Business Promotion Mission to Indonesia

The Sri Lanka-Indonesia Business Council (SLIBC) of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce successfully concluded a Business Promotion Mission to Indonesia from 6 October to 11 October 2024. The mission aimed to strengthen trade, investment, and business ties between Sri Lanka and Indonesia while exploring collaborative opportunities across key industries.

The delegation included 14 Sri Lankan business professionals representing diverse sectors such as food and beverage, logistics, pharmaceuticals, apparel, travel, IT, and recreation. SLIBC President Vish Govindasamy and Vice President D. S. Wickramasingha led the mission.

Key highlights of the mission included participation in various business forums, expos, and meetings with Indonesian stakeholders. A focal point was the Indonesia-South and Central Asia (INASCA) Business Forum 2024, organized by Indonesia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry under the theme “Unlocking Potentials and Fostering Economic Partnership.” The SLIBC, in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Embassy in Jakarta, hosted a booth at the event, attracting significant interest.

SLIBC President Vish Govindasamy participated in a high-level panel discussion on “Food Security and Health” alongside prominent industry leaders. The panel underscored the need for regional cooperation in achieving sustainable food security and addressing health challenges.

The Sri Lankan delegation also attended the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia, a prominent platform showcasing Indonesia’s industrial capabilities and emerging business opportunities. Additionally, they visited MM2100 Industrial Town in Cikarang, where they gained valuable insights into Indonesia’s industrial developments.

The mission was supported by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry, and Indonesian Embassy in Sri Lanka. SriLankan Airlines provided logistical support as the official airline partner.

Leading Sri Lankan companies such as Sunshine Holdings PLC, CBL Investments Ltd., Hayleys PLC, and Hemas Pharmaceuticals Ltd. were part of the delegation, which engaged in meaningful dialogue to enhance trade and business relations between the two nations.
