Sri Lanka-Canada Business Council Prepares for Mission to Strengthen Trade Ties

The Sri Lanka-Canada Business Council (SLCBC) held a crucial briefing with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya on October 10, 2024, in Colombo, as part of their preparations for an upcoming mission to Canada.

During the session, the SLCBC delegation outlined their key goals to strengthen trade, investment, and economic ties between Sri Lanka and Canada. The briefing focused on promoting sustainable growth, exploring new trade opportunities, and attracting foreign direct investment. The council highlighted planned meetings with Canadian business leaders, government officials, and key stakeholders.

Prime Minister Amarasuriya stressed the importance of sectors like Agriculture, IT, Education, Tourism, and Financial Services, which are pivotal for achieving sustainable development. She also emphasized the need to address climate change challenges in this mission.

The SLCBC delegation will embark on their mission to Canada from October 14-22, aiming to unlock long-term trade and investment benefits for both countries.
