Sri Lanka Coconut Auction Prices Dip Slightly

Sri Lanka’s average coconut auction prices decreased slightly from Rs. 85,516 to Rs. 85,087 per 1,000 nuts as of August 1, 2024, according to data from the Coconut Development Authority.

The highest price recorded was Rs. 92,000, down from Rs. 95,000, while the lowest price was Rs. 77,000, compared to Rs. 78,500 previously.

Out of 573,886 coconuts offered at the auction, 550,139 were sold.

Wholesale prices on August 1 ranged from Rs. 100-110 for large nuts and Rs. 85-90 for small nuts.

Farmgate prices in Kurunegala were reported at Rs. 80,000-82,000 per 1,000 nuts.

The price of coconut oil ranged between Rs. 660,000 and Rs. 700,000 per metric ton, while coconut shells were priced at Rs. 33,000-34,000 per metric ton.
