Sri Lanka Reaches 1,700 MW Rooftop Solar Milestone

Sri Lanka has crossed a significant milestone in its renewable energy journey, with the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announcing that rooftop solar installations across the country have collectively reached 1,700 megawatts as of May 1, 2025.

This achievement reflects a growing national commitment to clean energy, as households, businesses, and public institutions increasingly adopt solar power to meet their energy needs. The rapid expansion of rooftop solar has been instrumental in diversifying Sri Lanka’s energy mix, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and cutting carbon emissions.

The CEB expressed its gratitude to all stakeholders—individuals, corporations, and policymakers—who have contributed to this green transition. The board emphasized that continued collaboration is essential to achieving Sri Lanka’s long-term sustainability and energy independence goals.
