Sri Lanka Rupee Opens Weaker at 294.30/60 to US Dollar, Bonds and Equities Show Mixed Trends

Sri Lanka’s rupee weakened to 294.30/60 against the US dollar in the spot market on Monday, compared to 293.95/294.15 on Friday, while bond yields saw an upward movement, according to market dealers.

Bond Market Performance:

  • The bond maturing on 15.12.2026 remained stable at 9.45/55%.
  • The bond maturing on 15.09.2027 rose to 9.80/90% from 9.75/85%.
  • The bond maturing on 15.02.2028 increased to 10.15/20% from 10.10/15%.
  • The bond maturing on 15.09.2029 climbed to 10.80/85% from 10.70/80%.
  • The bond maturing on 15.05.2030 advanced to 11.00/10% from 10.95/11.05%.

Equity Market Highlights:

  • The All Share Price Index (ASPI) gained 0.96%, up by 154.64 points, closing at 16,204.
  • The S&P SL20 Index, tracking more liquid stocks, rose 1.27%, adding 61.69 points to close at 4,922.
  • Market turnover stood at 646 million rupees.
