Sri Lanka Rupee Steady at 293.40/50; Bond Yields Remain Stable

Sri Lanka’s rupee opened at 293.40/50 against the US dollar on Tuesday, maintaining a flat position from the previous day’s close of 293.45/55, according to dealers. Bond yields also showed little change during the session.

For bonds, a bond maturing on 15.12.2027 was quoted at 11.45/60 percent, slightly down from 11.50/60 percent. Meanwhile, a bond maturing on 15.02.2028 remained steady at 11.65/75 percent. A bond set to mature on 15.09.2029 saw a slight increase, quoted at 12.00/15 percent, up from the previous 11.95/12.05 percent.

In the equity market, Colombo’s All Share Price Index opened lower by 0.19 percent, or 23.61 points, at 12,141. Similarly, the S&P SL20, which tracks more liquid stocks, fell by 0.21 percent, or 7.54 points, to open at 3,583. The market turnover was recorded at 142 million rupees.
