Sri Lanka Rupee Steady, Bond Yields Flat, Stocks Down


Sri Lanka’s rupee opened steady at 293.00/05 to the US dollar on Wednesday, slightly down from 293.00/15 on Tuesday, according to dealers. Bond yields remained flat, with a bond maturing on 15th December 2027 quoted at 11.45/50 percent, compared to the previous day’s 11.40/55 percent. A bond maturing on 15th March 2028 was quoted at 11.65/75 percent, slightly lower than the previous 11.68/78 percent. Meanwhile, the bond maturing on 15th June 2029 remained stable at 11.95/12.05 percent.

In the equities market, Colombo’s All Share Price Index opened lower by 0.72 percent, or 91.59 points, at 12,704. Similarly, the S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks dropped by 1.12 percent, or 43.23 points, to 3,809. The market turnover stood at 1.2 billion rupees.
