Sri Lanka Rupee Strengthens Against Dollar, Bond Yields Decline Further

Sri Lanka’s rupee appreciated to 292.25/35 against the US dollar on Wednesday, strengthening from 292.45/55 the previous day, according to market sources. Concurrently, government bond yields continued their downward trend.

Key bond yield updates include:

  • The 15.12.2027 bond quoted at 10.95/11.05 percent, down from 11.10/25 percent.
  • The 15.02.2028 bond quoted at 11.25/33 percent.
  • The 15.09.2029 bond quoted at 11.60/70 percent, a slight decline from 11.65/80 percent.

Additionally, a treasury bill auction worth 147,500 million rupees was ongoing.

On the equity side, the Colombo All Share Price Index (ASPI) increased by 0.66 percent or 85.09 points, reaching 13,074.08. Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 index rose by 1.00 percent or 38.78 points, reaching 3,925.94, with a market turnover of 1.6 billion rupees.
