Sri Lanka Rupee Strengthens to 291.55 Against Dollar; Bond Trading Declines

Sri Lanka’s rupee opened stronger on Monday, trading at 291.55/75 to the US dollar compared to 292.15/18 on Thursday, according to market dealers. However, bond trading saw a notable decline.

  • A bond maturing on 15.12.2027 was quoted at 10.65/75 percent.
  • A bond maturing on 15.02.2028 was quoted at 10.95/11.00 percent.
  • A bond maturing on 15.09.2029 was quoted at 11.25/30 percent.
  • A bond maturing on 01.10.2032 was quoted at 11.50/70 percent.

Equities Market Update

In equities, the Colombo All Share Price Index (ASPI) rose by 1.73 percent, gaining 227.88 points to reach 13,426.68. Meanwhile, the S&P SL20, which tracks more liquid stocks, climbed by 2.48 percent, adding 98.57 points to close at 4,075.74.

The day’s market turnover stood at 167 million rupees.
