Sri Lanka Rupee Strengthens to 303.15/30 Against USD


Sri Lanka’s rupee strengthened to 303.15/30 against the US dollar on Monday, according to dealers. The currency had closed at 303.55/65 on Friday. Bond yields remained largely steady, while equities saw a slight decline of 0.02 percent.

In the secondary bond market, the yield for the bond maturing on December 15, 2026, was quoted at 10.45/50 percent, up from 10.40/55 percent. The bond maturing on December 15, 2027, was quoted at 11.55/70 percent, up from 11.50/65 percent. The bond maturing on May 1, 2028, was quoted at 11.75/80 percent, up from 11.70/85 percent. The bond maturing on September 15, 2029, was quoted at 12.00/15 percent, up from 12.00/10 percent.

In equities, Colombo’s All Share Price Index opened 2.21 points lower at 11,724, and the S&P SL20 index fell 0.08 percent or 2.68 points to 3,426. The market turnover was recorded at 46 million rupees.
