Sri Lanka Rupee Weakens to 303.35/85; Bond Yields and Stocks Rise

On Monday, Sri Lanka’s rupee opened weaker at 303.35/85 against the US dollar, a decline from Friday’s rate of 302.25/80, according to dealers. Meanwhile, bond yields have increased, and stock markets showed gains.

In the secondary market during the treasury bill auction, the following bond yields were noted:

  • A bond maturing on December 15, 2028, was quoted at 11.55/65 percent, up from 11.45/80 percent.
  • A bond maturing on June 15, 2029, remained stable at 13.70/80 percent.

In equities, the Colombo All Share Price Index rose by 0.56 percent, or 59.78 points, reaching 10,742. The S&P SL20, which tracks more liquid stocks, increased by 0.87 percent, or 26.05 points, to 3,005. The market turnover was recorded at 293 million rupees.
