Sri Lanka Sells Rs. 16.75 Billion in Additional Treasury Bills at Steady Rates

Colombo, June 6, 2025 — Sri Lanka’s state debt office has successfully raised an additional Rs. 16.75 billion through Treasury bills offered on tap, following the primary auction held earlier this week. The settlement date for the issuance is June 6.

The 6-month Treasury bills (ISIN: LKA18225L057) were sold at an average yield of 7.73 percent, while the 12-month bills (ISIN: LKA36426F051) were issued at 7.94 percent. The tap issuance drew strong investor interest, with total market subscriptions reaching Rs. 34.09 billion.

This supplemental sale comes on the heels of a Rs. 167.5 billion fundraise through the weekly Treasury bill auction on June 4, covering 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month maturities. The continued demand reflects market confidence in short-term government securities amid a steady interest rate environment.
