Sri Lanka Tourism Welcomes Over 1.1 Million Visitors in 2025



India tops source markets as June arrivals push numbers higher


Sri Lanka tourism continues its robust recovery in 2025, with total international arrivals reaching 1,123,289 as of June 22, according to data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

In the first 22 days of June alone, 93,486 tourists entered the country, highlighting sustained interest in Sri Lanka as a prime travel destination.

India remained the largest contributor to Sri Lanka tourism during this period, sending 27,504 visitors. The United Kingdom followed with 7,716 arrivals, while China and Bangladesh brought in 6,097 and 5,035 tourists, respectively.

The steady influx of travelers from key markets signals renewed global confidence in Sri Lanka tourism, as the island continues to offer a compelling mix of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and improved infrastructure. With the second half of the year approaching, tourism stakeholders are hopeful for continued growth and a strong peak season.
