Sri Lankan Entrepreneurs Take Aim at the Global Market

The Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE) is charting a new course aimed at propelling Sri Lankan businesses onto the global stage. At their recent 25th annual general meeting, newly appointed President Thushira Raddella announced a strategic shift towards international engagement.

Recognizing the evolving landscape of global commerce, COYLE plans to establish regional offices in key growth markets. These outposts will serve as vital hubs, promoting Sri Lankan exports and facilitating connections with international partners. President Raddella emphasized the importance of Sri Lankan companies embracing new technologies like artificial intelligence to stay competitive in the global arena.

COYLE is also committed to fostering a more inclusive environment. By dispelling the notion of being a “closed chamber,” they aim to broaden engagement with a wider range of businesses. Additionally, plans are underway to collaborate with schools and universities to cultivate a spirit of entrepreneurship among Sri Lanka’s youth.

This renewed focus on international engagement carries significant weight. COYLE members, a significant portion of whom are exporters, play a critical role in generating much-needed foreign currency for the nation’s economy. Their international investments, businesses, and partnerships serve as powerful engines for Sri Lanka’s economic revival and progress. Furthermore, the Young Lankan Business Council, comprised of COYLE members, contributes billions of rupees to Sri Lanka’s GDP annually, highlighting their undeniable impact.

COYLE’s strategic shift towards global engagement presents a promising opportunity for Sri Lankan businesses. By fostering international connections, promoting exports, and nurturing a new generation of entrepreneurs, COYLE is poised to play a pivotal role in propelling Sri Lanka’s economy forward on the world stage.
