Colombo – June 3, 2025 — The Sri Lankan rupee opened slightly stronger in the spot market on Tuesday, trading at 299.48/52 against the US dollar, improving from Monday’s close of 299.54/59, currency dealers reported.
Government bond yields remained largely unchanged across maturities. The bond maturing on February 15, 2028 was quoted at 8.75/8.85 percent. The October 15, 2028 bond held steady at 8.95/9.00 percent, slightly easing from the previous day’s 8.95/9.07 percent. The bond maturing on June 15, 2029 was trading at 9.50/9.60 percent, while the December 15, 2029 bond remained flat at 9.55/9.65 percent.
The March 15, 2031 bond saw a minor uptick, quoted at 9.80/10.00 percent, up from 9.80/9.98 percent the previous day.
Meanwhile, equities opened on a positive note, reflecting investor optimism amid currency strength and stable bond markets.
