The Sri Lankan rupee opened marginally higher on Wednesday, trading at 299.05/20 against the US dollar, following a previous close of 299.10/25 on Tuesday, according to market dealers.
Treasury bond yields showed little movement in the secondary market. The yield on a bond maturing on 15th December 2026 was quoted at 11.05/25 percent, slightly down from 11.00/30 percent. Meanwhile, a bond maturing on 15th June 2029 was quoted at 13.02/12 percent, up from 13.00/15 percent. The yield on a bond maturing on 15th May 2030 was steady at 13.20/30 percent.
In the equities market, the Colombo All Share Price Index (ASPI) saw a rise of 31.42 points, opening at 11,378. The S&P SL20 Index, which tracks more liquid stocks, increased by 0.16 percent, or 19.47 points, to 3,264. The market turnover stood at 5.6 million rupees.
