Sri Lankan Rupee Steady at 303.05/25 to USD

Sri Lanka’s rupee opened nearly unchanged at 303.05/25 against the US dollar on Monday, according to dealers. The currency closed at 303.10/20 on Friday. Bond yields remained broadly stable, with minor fluctuations observed in the secondary market.

In the bond market, yields were as follows: a bond maturing on December 15, 2026, was steady at 10.40/50%, while a bond maturing on December 15, 2027, increased slightly to 11.70/80% from 11.68/78%. Yields for a bond maturing on February 15, 2028, were quoted at 11.85/12.00%, and a bond maturing on September 15, 2029, was at 12.10/25%, up from 12.14/18%.

In equities, Colombo’s All Share Price Index opened 15.19 points higher at 11,648, and the S&P SL20 Index, which tracks more liquid stocks, rose by 0.36% or 12.14 points to 339. Market turnover was recorded at 7 million rupees.
