Sri Lankan Rupee Strengthens to 299.85/300.00 Against US Dollar

Sri Lanka’s rupee opened stronger at 299.85/300.00 against the US dollar on Monday, showing improvement from its previous close of 300.00/20. Bond yields were relatively steady, while stock indices saw a modest rise.

In the secondary bond market, yields were mixed. The yield on a bond maturing on 15.12.2026 was quoted at 11.00/10 percent, slightly down from 11.05/10 percent. Bonds maturing on 15.12.2027 and 15.12.2029 remained stable at 12.10/20 percent and 12.60/70 percent, respectively. The yield on a bond maturing on 15.02.2028 was quoted at 12.20/40 percent.

In equities, the Colombo All Share Price Index opened 12.91 points higher at 11,316, while the S&P SL20 index rose 0.20 percent, or 6.48 points, to 3,231. Market turnover was recorded at 23 million rupees.
