Sri Lankan Rupee Strengthens to 301.90/302.10 Against USD

On Monday, the Sri Lankan rupee opened stronger at 301.90/302.10 to the US dollar, according to dealers. This improvement follows Friday’s closing rate of 302.20/302.30.

In the bond market, yields have edged up slightly. The yield on a bond maturing on December 15, 2026, was quoted at 10.65/10.75 percent, up from 10.45/10.60 percent. Similarly, the yield on a bond maturing on February 15, 2028, rose to 12.05/12.15 percent from 12.00/12.10 percent. The yield on a bond maturing on September 15, 2029, increased to 12.20/12.40 percent from 12.20/12.35 percent.

In equities, the Colombo All Share Price Index (ASPI) began the day 10.67 points higher at 11,453. The S&P SL20 Index, which includes more liquid stocks, rose by 0.36 percent or 11.80 points to 3,301. Market turnover was recorded at 3 million rupees.
