Sri Lankan Rupee Strengthens, Bonds Hold Steady Ahead of Treasury Auction

Sri Lanka’s rupee opened slightly stronger on Monday, trading at 293.50/55 against the US dollar, up from 293.60/70 on Friday, according to dealers. Bond yields remained stable, with the 15.12.2027 bond quoted at 11.50/60 percent, unchanged from Friday. Meanwhile, the yield on the bond maturing 15.03.2028 dropped slightly to 11.70/75 percent, down from 11.75/85 percent. The 15.06.2029 bond yield held steady at 12.00/05 percent.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has announced an issuance of LKR 12.5 billion in Treasury Bonds via an auction scheduled for Monday, October 28. This auction is expected to provide insights into the direction of yields amid current market conditions.
