Capital Goods accounted for 29% of the day’s turnover, the single largest sectoral share. The Banking sector and Food, Beverage & Tobacco sector followed, together contributing a further 36% of turnover. Combined, the three sectors accounted for roughly two-thirds of all trading activity for the session.
Among individual counters, John Keells Holdings (JKH) was the dominant contributor within the broader mix, accounting for 23% of total market turnover and 34% of trading volume — a scale that placed it well ahead of other constituents.
