The latest recognition at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026 marks the second time HNB PLC has received the honour, reinforcing its reputation as a preferred financial partner for conglomerates, exporters, multinational corporations, and major infrastructure developers operating in Sri Lanka.
The award acknowledges HNB’s ability to deliver tailored financial solutions while supporting some of the country’s largest and most complex corporate transactions. During the review period, the bank expanded its role beyond conventional corporate lending by participating in several landmark local and international financing initiatives.
Among the most significant transactions was HNB’s participation in a US$1 billion sustainability-linked syndicated financing for Aster Chemicals and Energy, supporting the company’s acquisition of Shell’s refinery in Singapore. The bank also played a role in cross-border acquisition financing involving Surge Global and Calcey Technologies, highlighting its growing expertise in facilitating international business expansion.
In Sri Lanka, HNB PLC arranged the Rs. 44.5 billion syndicated financing for the 350MW Sobadhanavi Power Project, one of the country’s largest project financing initiatives. The transaction underscores the bank’s growing capability in structuring complex financing solutions that support national infrastructure development and long-term economic growth.
