The initiative will bring together entrepreneurship development, vocational training, road safety education, youth and women’s empowerment, environmental awareness, and community engagement, reflecting the Group’s broader vision of creating sustainable value beyond its business operations.

The programme will be centred at the David Pieris Motor Company (DPMC) premises on Trincomalee Road, Batticaloa, while several activities will also be conducted at selected locations across the city to maximise community participation.

The David Pieris Group to launch Social Empowerment Drive in Batticaloa initiative has been designed as a holistic community empowerment programme, targeting individuals from different age groups and professional backgrounds. It aims to create practical opportunities for entrepreneurship, technical skills development, education, road safety awareness, and environmental sustainability.

One of the main highlights will be a five-day public trade fair running from 15 to 19 July at the DPMC premises. Visitors will have access to a wide range of products, services, live demonstrations, interactive experiences, and exclusive promotional offers presented by companies across the David Pieris Group.

Participating companies include David Pieris Motor Company, Assetline Finance, David Pieris Automobiles, David Pieris e-Mobility, David Pieris Solar Energy, David Pieris Logistics, Assetline Insurance Brokers, David Pieris Leisure, and David Pieris Aviation.

On the opening day, the Group will also conduct a Beauty and Personal Care Skills Development Programme for Women, providing participants with practical industry knowledge while encouraging self-employment and income-generating opportunities.

An Entrepreneurship Development Programme will also be held on 15 July at the East Lagoon Hotel. The session is intended to support aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners by offering practical guidance on business management, growth strategies, and enterprise development.

Road safety education forms another major component of the initiative. On 16 July, a Traffic Awareness Programme will be conducted in front of the DPMC premises, educating school students on responsible road behaviour, pedestrian safety, and safe commuting practices.

The programme will continue on 18 July, designated as Bajaj Day, featuring specialised training sessions focused on improving road safety and technical expertise. A dedicated Traffic Awareness Programme for three-wheeler drivers will encourage safer driving habits and responsible road usage, while a Local Garage Training Programme will provide technical guidance to independent mechanics and garage owners, helping improve service quality and professional standards.

The final day, 19 July, will combine sports and technical development activities. Cricket and football tournaments will be organised at the Sivananda School Ground in Kallady and the KV Ground in Valachchenai, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and community participation among local youth.

At the same time, the DPMC premises will host a Mechanical Training Programme for authorised service dealers, aimed at strengthening technical competencies across the company’s after-sales service network.

Beyond these scheduled events, the David Pieris Group to launch Social Empowerment Drive in Batticaloa programme will include several additional initiatives throughout the five-day period. These include school development projects, a university internship empowerment programme, scholarships for selected school students, vehicle emission testing and inspection services for Bajaj and KTM vehicles, and a Green Climate Action Programme promoting environmental responsibility.

The broad scope of activities demonstrates the David Pieris Group’s commitment to investing in people and communities while supporting long-term economic and social development. Through education, community empowerment, entrepreneurship, technical training, and environmental initiatives, the Group aims to create lasting benefits for the people of Batticaloa and contribute to building stronger, more resilient communities across Sri Lanka.
