Sri Lankan Rupee Dips Slightly, Stock Market Edges Up

The Sri Lankan rupee started the trading day on Wednesday (today) a touch weaker against the US dollar. The opening exchange rate was 302.20/35 rupees to the dollar, compared to 302.10/20 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed a positive opening. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) rose by 0.11% to reach 12,117 points, while the S&P SL20 index gained 0.21% to settle at 3,576 points.

In the bond market, yields remained mostly unchanged. A bond maturing on December 15th, 2026, saw its yield dip slightly to 9.70/80% from 9.70/85% the previous day. Yields for bonds maturing on September 15th, 2027, July 1st, 2028, and May 15th, 2030, remained stable at 10.35/45%, 10.80/90%, and 11.65/75% respectively, with the exception of the 2030 bond which saw a slight increase from 11.60/75%.
