Omega Line Limited received the prestigious title of ‘Most Outstanding Exporter – Merchandise’ during the inaugural awards ceremony commemorating BOI Sri Lanka’s 45th anniversary on April 2. The award, presented by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, recognizes Omega Line’s pivotal role as a leading apparel exporter in the country. The company’s CEO/Managing Director Felix A. Fernando and Director Quality Assurance/GM of Omega Line Vavuniya Apparels, Paola Fava, accepted the accolade, highlighting Omega Line’s significant contributions to Sri Lanka’s economic landscape.
BOI’s selection criteria focused on honoring companies that have made substantial contributions to the country’s economic growth, particularly through foreign direct investment (FDI) projects that have positively impacted the local economy. Omega Line’s recognition underscores its achievements in fostering economic growth, generating employment opportunities, and supporting sustainable development, in line with BOI’s mission to facilitate FDI and sustainable economic progress.
Specializing in corsetry and beachwear, Omega Line has demonstrated impressive annual production and export volumes, exceeding 100 million garments and achieving an export turnover of over USD 370 million last year. The company sustains a workforce of over 4,500 individuals, with a significant representation of women. Omega Line’s commitment to enhancing domestic fabric manufacturing capabilities through local partnerships reflects its dedication to building a resilient and adaptable supply chain.
The Omega Group, of which Omega Line is a part, has a substantial impact on Sri Lanka’s economy, employing over 15,500 individuals and exporting nearly 200 million garments last year. Despite economic challenges, the group’s turnover surpassed USD 600 million, with investments exceeding USD 350 million across its four legal entities in the country.
In addition to receiving recognition as one of ‘The 15 Best Workplaces in the Manufacturing and Production Industry in Sri Lanka’ by Great Place to Work, Omega Line was also honored for its economic contributions to Sri Lanka at the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Awards earlier this year, further highlighting its commitment to sustainable business practices and impactful economic contributions.
