Engineering firm Luminex PLC has been awarded the contract to clean up the Kankasanthurei cement factory complex, focusing on the collection of iron and other metal parts.
On Monday, President Ranil Wickremesinghe, in his role as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilisation, and National Policies, sought and received Cabinet approval to award the procurement to Luminex PLC. The company was selected as the most responsive bidder based on recommendations from the Cabinet-appointed procurement committee.
Out of the six bids received, three were disqualified according to the bid documents. Luminex, a publicly traded engineering firm specializing in telecommunications, electrical, water and sewerage, and civil construction, emerged as the successful bidder.
