CEAT Tyres Selected as Original Equipment for Hyundai Grand i10 Assembled by Abans Auto

CEAT has been selected as the original equipment tyre for the 2024 Hyundai Grand i10, which is assembled, sold, and serviced in Sri Lanka by Abans Auto. This partnership marks another significant OEM collaboration for CEAT, the leading tyre brand in the country.

This collaboration involves the fitting of German-engineered 15-inch CEAT radial tyres on Hyundai Grand i10 hatchbacks at the Abans Auto assembly plant in Seeduwa. The tyres, developed and tested at CEAT’s Research & Development Center in Frankfurt, Germany, meet the stringent performance criteria required by Hyundai. These tyres are designed to enhance the vehicle’s appearance and provide superior safety and performance.

CEAT is the only locally-manufactured tyre brand in Sri Lanka to be certified by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) under the IATF 16949:2016 standard for Automotive Quality Management Systems.

“We welcome Hyundai and Abans Auto to our growing list of OE customers in Sri Lanka,” said CEAT Kelani Chief Operating Officer Shamal Gunawardene. “As the largest tyre manufacturer in the country, our partnerships with local vehicle assemblers reduce dependency on imports, enhance value addition, and support national priorities by conserving foreign exchange.”

Amanda Gooneratne, Director of Strategy & Business Development at Abans Auto (Pvt) Ltd., added, “The Sri Lankan-assembled Hyundai Grand i10 showcases the country’s advancing capabilities in automobile assembly and component manufacturing. It is fitting that these vehicles are equipped with CEAT car radials, world-class tyres designed and engineered for local roads.”
