Sri Lanka Rupee Opens Slightly Weaker at 296.30/50 to US Dollar

The Sri Lankan rupee opened slightly weaker on Tuesday at 296.20/40 to the US dollar, according to dealers. This comes ahead of a Treasury bill auction, with bond yields showing marginal increases.

A bond maturing on 15.12.2026 was quoted at 9.40/50 percent, slightly down from the previous 9.50/60 percent. A bond maturing on 15.10.2027 remained unchanged at 9.80/90 percent, compared to the previous quote of 9.80/95 percent.

Meanwhile, a bond maturing on 15.02.2028 saw a small increase, quoted at 10.15/20 percent, up from 10.17/25 percent. A bond maturing on 15.10.2028 also showed an uptick, quoted at 10.50/55 percent, compared to 10.45/55 percent in the previous session.

Bonds maturing on 01.05.2028 remained steady at 35/40 percent, unchanged from 10.35/42 percent. Similarly, a bond maturing on 15.09.2029 was quoted at 10.75/85 percent, and a bond maturing on 15.05.2030 at 11.00/10 percent, both showing no change.
