BIA Gold Route Records Rs. 94.9 Million Revenue in 2024

The Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Gold Route service has achieved a remarkable revenue of LKR 94.9 million in 2024, marking a 37% year-on-year growth. This surge in revenue is driven by the growing demand for affluent travel.

According to Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka, the Gold Route service has catered to almost 3,000 tourists, contributing LKR 175 million (191,446 USD) to the nation’s economy since its inception in 2022. This initiative aims to generate USD earnings for the country while tapping into the expanding luxury travel market. Sri Lanka is targeting 3 million tourists this year, with a focus on enhancing the luxury travel segment, offering a unique mix of authenticity and high-end experiences as global luxury travel shifts toward curated offerings.

“We believe that Gold Route’s personalized services will be in high demand from affluent travelers, as the global trend shifts toward customized travel experiences,” said a spokesperson.

Introduced in 2022, the Gold Route service targets the emerging business opportunity of offering professionalism, ultra-luxury, and comfort to high-net-worth individuals. The global luxury travel market is growing rapidly, driven by an increased demand for personalized services, luxury accommodations, and transportation. It is expected to reach $3.3 trillion by 2032, propelled by a rising number of high-net-worth individuals.
