City of Dreams Sri Lanka is celebrating its first anniversary by marking a year of transforming Colombo’s tourism, hospitality and entertainment landscape with a month-long programme of exclusive dining, lifestyle and guest experiences throughout August.
City of Dreams Sri Lanka celebrates one year with exclusive dining and lifestyle experiences
The milestone, celebrated on August 2, 2026, reflects the success of South Asia’s first fully integrated resort, which has introduced a new benchmark for luxury hospitality by combining accommodation, dining, entertainment, retail and lifestyle experiences within a single destination. Since opening its doors, the development has become a major attraction for both local and international visitors while strengthening Colombo’s position as an emerging regional tourism hub.
During its first year of operations, City of Dreams Sri Lanka has evolved into one of the country’s premier lifestyle destinations, hosting a wide range of business, leisure and entertainment events. The resort has welcomed international conferences, large-scale MICE events, destination weddings, live entertainment performances and high-profile celebrations, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
Its impact has also extended to the city’s culinary scene. Through collaborations with internationally recognised chefs and premium restaurant concepts, the resort has introduced new dining experiences that have enhanced Colombo hospitality while attracting growing numbers of regional travellers, particularly from India.
Commenting on the milestone, Kamal Munasinghe, Senior Vice President, Colombo Hotels, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and General Manager, Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams Sri Lanka, said the anniversary represents much more than the completion of a successful first year.
“Our first anniversary represents far more than the passing of a year. It marks the beginning of a destination that has introduced an entirely new lifestyle experience to Sri Lanka while welcoming guests, global partnerships and world-class experiences under one roof,” he said.
Munasinghe added that every event, culinary collaboration and visitor has contributed to building a distinctive destination that continues to attract increasing numbers of international travellers, destination weddings and major corporate events.
He noted that the resort remains committed to building on its early success by delivering even more exceptional experiences in the years ahead, further strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a competitive tourism destination.
To commemorate the anniversary, the resort has planned a series of special promotions and culinary events throughout August. Between August 1 and 9, guests can enjoy a 30% discount on food and beverages across participating specialty restaurants.
From August 10 to 16, Staten Bar & Grill, Bistro des Marées, Yoroko and Sapphire Dragon will introduce specially curated anniversary set menus showcasing signature dishes created by each restaurant’s culinary team. The menus are designed to reflect the diversity of cuisines and premium dining experiences available across the Integrated resort.
One of the month’s headline events will take place on August 7 and 8, when Indiya hosts an exclusive collaboration featuring two of India’s most celebrated restaurants—Indian Accent Mumbai and Ekaa.
The guest chef experience will bring together Executive Chef Rijul Gulati of Indian Accent Mumbai and Chef Niyati Rao, Head Chef and Partner of Ekaa, who will present specially curated vegetarian and non-vegetarian Chef’s Tasting Menus. The collaboration celebrates India’s rich culinary heritage through innovative techniques, exceptional ingredients and contemporary presentation, providing guests with a unique gastronomic experience.
The anniversary programme reflects the resort’s broader strategy of creating destination-led experiences that combine hospitality, entertainment and fine dining under one roof. As South Asia’s first Integrated resort, the property has sought to redefine how visitors experience Colombo by offering a seamless blend of luxury accommodation, premium restaurants, entertainment venues, retail outlets and event spaces within a single location.
Over the past year, this integrated approach has helped establish the destination as a preferred venue for business travellers, holidaymakers and local visitors seeking world-class experiences without leaving the city.
As City of Dreams Sri Lanka enters its second year, the anniversary celebrations underscore its ambition to continue shaping the future of Sri Lanka’s tourism and lifestyle sectors. By combining international partnerships, innovative culinary experiences and large-scale hospitality offerings, the resort is positioning itself as a landmark destination capable of attracting global attention while supporting the continued growth of Colombo’s tourism economy.
