Aberdeen Holdings has achieved Carbon Neutral Certification from the National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC), marking a significant milestone in the diversified business group’s sustainability journey and reinforcing its commitment to responsible, environmentally conscious growth.

Established in 1995, Aberdeen Holdings has developed into a diversified Sri Lankan business group with more than 17 companies operating across five sectors. Supported by a workforce of over 1,800 employees, the Group is now placing greater emphasis on ensuring that its future expansion is aligned with environmental accountability and responsible business practices.
The certification comes as Aberdeen Holdings moves beyond three decades of enterprise and growth. For the Group, the achievement represents more than an environmental milestone. It reflects a broader effort to understand its operational impact, improve resource efficiency and integrate sustainability more deeply into business decision-making.
The carbon-neutral certification process involved a comprehensive assessment of Aberdeen Holdings’ organisational greenhouse gas emissions and environmental practices. The assessment covered key operational areas, including energy and water consumption, transportation, waste management and other business activities that contribute to the Group’s environmental footprint.
This data-driven evaluation enabled the Group to develop a clearer understanding of its emissions and identify the measures required to work towards carbon neutrality. It also provided a foundation for strengthening environmental management practices across its diverse business operations.

Aberdeen Holdings achieved the milestone with the support of Co-Energi (Pvt) Ltd., which provided consultancy services and guidance throughout the carbon-neutrality journey. The National Cleaner Production Centre undertook the evaluation and certification process.
The certification is expected to serve as a foundation for further environmental improvements across the Group. Moving forward, Aberdeen Holdings intends to continue evaluating its environmental performance, improving resource efficiency and strengthening responsible practices throughout its businesses.
