ACCA’s Employer Programme Boosts Finance Careers and Industry Standards

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is raising the bar in the finance industry with its Approved Employer Programme, a global initiative designed to prioritize the professional growth of both employees and employers. By focusing on employability, the programme aims to develop highly skilled, globally recognized finance professionals while enhancing industry standards.

Ruchera Jayawardena Peries, ACCA’s Business Development Manager for Members and Employers, emphasized the programme’s significance, saying, “Our mission is to develop finance professionals equipped with the skills employers demand. This not only propels individual careers forward but also elevates the entire finance profession.”

The ACCA Approved Employer Programme recognizes employers committed to staff development and training. These employers gain global recognition, access to valuable resources, and streamlined processes that make them attractive to top finance talent seeking to complete their ACCA qualifications. A key advantage for participating employers is the simplified Practical Experience Requirement (PER) process, which allows students to bypass the usual sign-off procedure, making the path to ACCA qualification more efficient.

To be approved, organizations must demonstrate a commitment to staff development, maintain structured training, and adhere to ACCA’s ethical standards. The programme offers two levels of recognition: Trainee Development (Gold and Platinum levels) and Professional Development. Approved employers also benefit from exclusive access to ACCA resources, such as training materials and industry updates.

Peries explained that the application process is simple and accessible. Employers can apply online, and once approved, they receive official certification, are listed in the ACCA’s directory of Approved Employers, and can use the ACCA Approved Employer logo in recruitment and marketing efforts.

Importantly, the application process is free of charge, ensuring that businesses of all sizes can participate without financial constraints.

For students and members working for ACCA Approved Employers, the programme offers significant benefits, including a more straightforward process for completing PER and structured, high-quality training that enhances career opportunities.

With over 7,800 ACCA Approved Employers in 111 countries, the initiative has received widespread acclaim. “It’s a win-win for both employers and employees, fostering a sustainable talent pool for the finance industry,” said Peries.

Companies interested in becoming ACCA Approved Employers can access a detailed application guide on the ACCA website, which outlines eligibility criteria and the approval process.

Peries concluded, “The ACCA Approved Employer Programme is a vital bridge between employers and our talented finance professionals, ensuring a prosperous future for the industry.”
