Atlas PlayPalz partnered with Sri Lanka’s national Early Childhood Development (ECD) Week 2026 to promote quality early learning through play, engaging children, parents and preschool teachers in a series of educational activities designed to strengthen awareness of child development.

The initiative, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, reached more than 1,000 participants through three events held as part of the nationwide ECD Week 2026 programme. The campaign highlighted the value of Activity-based learning in supporting children’s cognitive, emotional, social, physical and creative development during their most formative years.
Research shows that approximately 90% of a child’s brain development occurs during the first seven years of life, making early childhood a critical period for learning and growth. Recognising this, the ECD Week programme encouraged families, educators and policymakers to work together in creating strong foundations for lifelong learning.
Early Childhood Development (ECD) Week 2026 commenced on July 14 under the guidance of Minister of Women and Child Affairs Hon. Saroja Savithri Paulraj. As part of the islandwide initiative, Atlas PlayPalz launched a series of interactive programmes aimed at demonstrating how purposeful play can become a powerful educational tool.
The first event took place on July 15 at Sri Bodhi Ground in Gampaha, where more than 500 children participated in interactive activity zones and hands-on educational experiences. The sessions encouraged creativity, curiosity and exploration while demonstrating practical ways that learning through play can enhance children’s development.
The programme continued on July 16 with a dedicated event for more than 500 preschool teachers at Temple Trees. The session recognised the important role educators play in shaping young minds and showcased how structured play can make classroom learning more engaging and meaningful.
During the event, Atlas introduced its new Atlas PlayPalz modular activity kits, developed to support children’s creativity, communication, problem-solving abilities, fine motor skills, emotional expression and concentration through guided play experiences. The launch reflects the company’s continued investment in innovative educational solutions that combine learning with enjoyment.
The final event was held on July 20 at the Sri Lanka Foundation, bringing together more than 100 parents of children aged three to five. The parent engagement programme focused on practical strategies families can use at home to encourage Early Childhood Development through everyday play and interactive learning activities.
Addressing the gathering at Temple Trees, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya emphasised the national importance of investing in children’s early years.
“The early years play a vital role in shaping a child’s future. ECD Week 2026 is an important initiative in strengthening awareness of early childhood development as a national priority and encouraging parents, teachers and communities to work together to give every child a strong foundation for learning and growth,” she said.
