Brace Yourselves: Showery and Windy Conditions Set to Amplify

The Meteorology Department has issued a warning regarding the anticipated increase in showery and windy conditions over the next few days, attributed to pre-monsoonal activity across the country and surrounding sea areas.

Heavy rainfall is forecasted, particularly in the South-western regions including the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-western provinces, as well as in Galle, Matara, and Mannar districts. Expectations include strong winds reaching speeds of 60-70 kmph, coupled with heavy rainfall, in various parts of the country and surrounding sea areas.

As a precautionary measure, the general public, as well as the fishing and naval communities, are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.

This advisory aims to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents and stakeholders amidst the anticipated adverse weather conditions.
