Fusion Apparel Ltd. has signed an agreement with the Board of Investment (BOI) to invest $1.06 million initially, marking the start of a technology-driven venture to manufacture glue-bonded garments in partnership with Brandix Group. This initiative is part of a broader project with an anticipated total investment of approximately $10 million.
Fusion Apparel aims to address the growing demand for glue bonding services in the apparel industry, especially among BOI export-oriented companies. The glue bonding technology eliminates traditional sewing, enhancing the performance, durability, and comfort of apparel. By using specialized adhesives, the process offers seamless finishes, improved fabric strength, and scalability in manufacturing. This technology is particularly suited for performance apparel and intimate garments, meeting both aesthetic and functional requirements.
This joint venture will not only benefit Brandix and Fusion Apparel but also the Sri Lankan apparel industry by creating 100 new job opportunities and enhancing technology learning. The project is expected to expand the local market’s ability to provide sew-free products to global markets, particularly the USA.
Fusion Apparel’s investment in sustainable practices also aligns with Brandix’s ESG framework, contributing to energy savings and incorporating sustainable materials into its production. The venture strengthens Sri Lanka’s position as a technology-savvy hub ready for Industry 4.0.
