The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) issued a statement today clarifying that, although September 23, 2024, is a public holiday, it is not a bank holiday. This announcement comes in response to a special media release from the Director General of the Government Information Department, which noted that the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government (MPAHAPCLG) had declared today a special public holiday. CBSL confirmed that the Secretary to the MPAHAPCLG has informed them that September 23, 2024 (Monday) does not qualify as a bank holiday.
